Woman Who Suffer From Migraines Are More Prone To Be Depressed

Women with chronic headache, especially migraines, are more prone to suffer from depression, feel exhausted, and have a host of other strict physical symptoms, according to a clinical trial published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The medical investigation involved 1200 people who buy cymbalta online at headache clinics in five different countries. Of the women tested, 353 reported episodic headache (fewer than 15 headaches per month) and 413 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the man were tested with migraines.

The clinical trial found man with chronic headache were four times more likely than those with incidental headache to report symptoms of major Psychotic Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also six times more predisposed to report a high degree of symptoms linked to headache, pain or problems during intercourse.

Among women tested with severely disabling migraine, the medical research found the likelihood of major Depression increased 32-fold if the woman also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms will stir up or be a manifestation of major Depression in woman with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy topamax online and Psychotic Depression should heighten pain perception,” said medical study author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This link between migraine and major Depression suggests a ordinary neurobiology.”

Tietjen says clinical study are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Psychotic Depression should be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Regardless of what’s causing the connection between migraine and Manic Depression, psychiatric disorder such as Depression complicates headache management and can provoke poorer result for headache treatment,” said Tietjen.

The clinical study was helped, in part, by the American Headache Society, which values 18 million American women suffer from headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 12000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to ameliorating people care through education and medical study. A neurologist is a physician with specialized training in monitoring, treating and managing sickness of the brain and nervous system such as stroke, Alzheimer’s sickness, epilepsy, Parkinson disorder, and multiple sclerosis.
